Kumho gains OE fitment on BMW X3 `SAV` Kumho supplies the Crugen HP91 ultra high performance original equipment tires to BMW’s new X3 SAV, diversifying its customer portfolio 03/22/2018
ATLANTA, Ga. (March 21, 2018) - Kumho Tire, one of the world’s leading tire
manufacturers, was chosen by BMW to be the OEM supplier for the new X3
SUV. Kumho
Tire is delivering an ultra-high
performance tire in a 245/50R19 105W fitment on BMW’s
latest-generation X3
four-door hatchback sport activity vehicle (SAV), offering outstanding
hydroplaning resistance and
driving stability
at high speeds.
The BMW X3 launched the mid-size SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) segment
in 2003. The car that emerges sportier than its predecessor, yet avoids
compromising on ride comfort, BMW has recorded more than 1.6 million new
registrations of the X3 worldwide. And now with Kumho tire, the new BMW
X3 is
set to write the next chapter in this success story with an even more
striking and
dynamic design that is powerful yet also incorporates efficient drive
systems
and luxurious features.
The Crugen HP91 highlights a newly developed compound providing a
comfortable ride and excellent wear characteristics. The tread design maximizes
steering stability
by reinforcing rigidity and also creates a balanced contact patch with
the
road. The HP91 also features
4 wide
circumferential grooves for enhanced performance on wet surfaces for
all-season
traction and control.
BMW began production of the new X3 at their Spartanburg factory in June of
last year and the tires are manufactured at Kumho’s Gwangju plant in the
South
Heolla Province of Korea.
