ATLANTA, GEORGIA (November 1, 2020) – As one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers, we have achieved a major milestone today – 60 years of successful business operation. Our CEO, Jeon Dae Jin, proudly announced a new set of corporate values and shared our vision for the next five years – we will continue to expand our current portfolio of products and services through a constant focus on innovation, safety, and quality manufacturing.

 

During the past 60 years, we have built a tradition of excellence in providing our customers with innovative ideas to solve user and production challenges in the automobile industry. As the first foreign manufacturer to research and develop the 32-inch UHP radial tires for the U.S. Air Force, we are recognized as the “science and technology powerhouse” in Korea. We ensure our products are at the highest levels of safety and quality in all processes, from design, manufacture, sales, and after-sales support. We also further the reach of our parent company, Kumho Buslines as it continues to grow its global operations, and we are trusted by consumers from 180 different countries around the world.

1960

·         Company founded at Yang-dong, Gwangju-si, Korea


 

 

1975

·         We are the first Korean tire manufacturer to research and develop the 32-inch UHP radial tires

·         Became one of the leading tire suppliers of military aircraft tires to the US Air Force

·         Launched steel radial tires for passenger cars

 

 

1978

·         Launched radial tires for trucks and buses

 

1987

·         Acquired the safety standard certificate for one of the largest car exporters, General Motors

1999

·         Developed the first run-flat tires in Korea


 

2002

·        Launched our first 26-inch and 28-inch UHP tires

 

2006

·         Launched our first tire with a fragrance feature, the “Aroma”

·         Launched our first 32-inch UHP tire

 

2008

·         Acquired the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration Aircraft Tire Certification (TSO)

·         Launched the world’s first 15 series tire


 

 

2009

·        Our F3 racing tires were recognized as a “World-Class Product” by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy


 

2014

·         Became the first official tire of the NBA, G-League, and Atlanta Hawks

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is known as the most prestigious basketball league in the world, founded in the United States in 1946 by the merger of two rival organizations, the league continually attracting the best players around the globe with its fame and fortune. As the first tire sponsor of the NBA, G League, and Atlanta Hawks starting in 2014, we have an array of unique branding during the NBA All-Star weekends, which provides significant global exposure over the course. At the same time, our logo will be featured courtside and throughout the State Farm arena during the regular seasons.

As the most followed sports league with the most engaged fans on social media, NBA has more than 41 million followers on Facebook, 50.2 million on Instagram, 31.2 million on Twitter, and 14.8 million on YouTube. 2016

·         Opened our first US manufacturing plant in Macon, Georgia


 

 

2018

·         Launched our first NBA themed marketing campaign during the 2018 NBA Playoffs

Every second on the court matters. John Wall of the Washington Wizards shared and showcased our core values and attributes both on and off the court. This 30 seconds commercial was aired on national TV on TNT and NBA TV during the 2018 Playoffs.



 

 

2019

·        Launched our second NBA themed marketing campaign with D’Angelo Russell

D’Angelo Russell of the Minnesota Timberwolves is a leader on and off the court. He thrives when pressure is the greatest.


 

 

2020

·         Launched the “This is My Road” campaign for the 2019 – 2020 NBA season

As a top recruit at North Carolina, Coby White was one of the elite players in NCAA Men’s basketball back in 2018. This original series documented Coby’s journey of leaving college to go to the NBA, and we learned how he prepares himself to face a whole new set of challenges.
