ATLANTA, GA. (October 5th, 2020) – After receiving the International Forum (iF) Design and the Red Dot Design Awards, Kumho Tire announced that the e-NIMF Airless and e-TOPs hybrid tires have also been named the 2020 International Excellent (IDEA) Awards winner for the transportation category.

Organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980, the IDEA Award evaluates winners on five key characteristics: innovative design, user experience, user benefits, corporate social responsibility, and aesthetic values. It is recognized as one of the world’s top three design awards, along with the International Forum Design (iF) and the Red Dot Design Award of Germany. IDSA will feature top IDEA winners in their Innovation magazine, website, and global media outreach. 

e-NIMF Airless Tire

Unlike the conventional tires, the e-NIMF featured a removable tread that provides excellent stability and can run almost indefinitely by changing its tread periodically. According to the result of the extensive testing and simulation of its shape by Kumho, this eco-friendly, no-inflation, and maintenance-free tire perform remarkably similar to the pneumatic tires. 

e-TOPs Hybrid Tire

This revolutionary hybrid product encompasses the strengths of the pneumatic and airless tires. While its lower, less vulnerable section contains a volume of air, the tire is protected from road hazards by its tread design and an airless upper structure of spokes. Kumho also found that this product has an equivalent performance to conventional tires while avoiding issues with air loss based on the test results.
