Robert Stout Sweeps Weekend with 2 Wins on Kumho Tires
- Robert at turn 10 Putnam Park
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., May 20, 2009—After back to back wins with his Lucas Oil backed, E3 Spark Plugs, Pro-Challenge Charger riding on Kumho tires at Road America, Robert Stout was full of confidence entering the NASA crossover event at Putnam Park road course. Stout could earn points for both the Great Lakes and Mid-West Regions at his home track. “Dave Royce and the gang from NASA put on a great event this weekend and we are finally getting this Lucas Oil Charger sorted out” Robert said, “We did encounter a high speed miss on Sunday but we were still able to hang on for the win.”
The two wins at Putnam make it four consecutive wins in a row for the first time in Stout’s career. It will also give him the point lead in the Mid-West Region and now is tied for the lead in the Great Lakes region. Robert rolls on the Kumho Ecsta V710 race tire that is a proven winner for many years.
“This place is made for a car like ours. The long sweeping turns are where we excel and this car was on rails all weekend. We tested on Friday and nailed down tire pressures and temps along with some set up thanks to the data from our EQ3 Racepak. Finally we raced when it wasn’t raining so we put this Lucas Oil backed car equipped with E3 Spark Plugs and Kumho tires to the test" car owner Ken Stout said. "The K&N filters gave us clean air for the engine and our Hawk brake pads never faded! This was a nice change, no rain, no rods through the block and two more wins. I’m glad we could do this for all the people that support this effort and my son.”
"This weekend was very important for us for a couple of reasons", said Robert. "The points Championship is the goal but my dad’s close friend Larry Rice who is a three time USAC National Champion and a former Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the year is struggling for his life as he battles cancer and we wanted to dedicate this weekend to him. I’m glad we could bring home a pair of wins!” The quest for dual regional championships will continue at Grattan Raceway in Belding, Mi.
