The Kumho Tire Super Team of Scott Douglas Does it Again with Another 2nd Place Finish at Perris Auto Speedway
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., May 29, 2009— The Pro 4 class is the best of the best in 4 wheel drive off-road racing in the Traxxas TORC Series, and Scott Douglas of Douglas Motorsports, and Steve Barlow of the Red Bull Bosch Team are eager to be the first to bring home a win for Kumho Tires in Pro 4.
Douglas and Barlow might be friends off the track but when you put that helmet on it’s every man for himself. Douglas, starting on the front row, and Barlow on the second row, raced each other hard for 10 laps in the 2nd and 3rd position until the mandatory caution flag, which saw the Red Bull Bosch entry slowly fall behind after contact with another truck and broke a front shock but was able to finish in the 7th position.
Douglas would continue the race and put pressure on the lead truck of series favorite, Johnny Greaves. Adrian Cenni was running in the third position and at times saw some clear track to catch Douglas, but a spin dropped him further behind and late in the race Douglas made a move on Greeves but couldn’t make it stick and settled for a 2nd place finish.
“Scott is a great driver and has the experience to know when it’s time to think of the big picture,” said Kumho Tire principal engineer Ed Cercek. “I think he had the opportunity to force a move to the lead a few times but didn’t want to jeopardize his equipment early in the weekend. He’s a smart heads up driver that can be patient when he needs to because he’s been here before, he understands the points race and how critical it is to be consistent and have a good truck when he really needs it.”
