Kumho’s Scott Douglas Earns Second at Bark River TORC Series

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., July 20, 2009— The action was intense for the Kumho Tire Pro 4x4 race at the demanding Bark River track for round eight of the TRAXXAS TORC series. After a disappointing rim failure in Saturday’s race, Scott Douglas put the Amsoil/Kumho Tire team on the podium Sunday with a second place finish and earned valuable points in the championship hunt.

“This weekend was a challenge for us because the track has changed significantly from the last time we were here,” said Rudy Consolacion, Kumho Tire Motorsports Manager. “It was a tough break for Douglas. I think we had a tire that could put him up front, and with his experience at this track we had high expectations. We’re happy with the results and excited to be back in the chase for the championship.”

Early in the race Douglas put himself in position to challenge the leaders after a mandatory caution period. At the restart Douglas was able to get past another truck and focus on the task of chasing leader Johnny Greaves. With the crowd on their feet, time ran out but Douglas earned a second place finish for Kumho Tires.

Steve Barlow in the Red Bull/Bosch/Kumho Team had a strong run early, but a spin dashed the hopes of a trophy. Barlow was able to continue and salvage a fourth place finish.

The 2009 TORC race schedule has the PRO classes returning to Bark River, Michigan on August 8-9 for rounds 9 and 10.
